EARLY CHILDHOOD STIMULATION WORKSHOP

Objective:

To teach parents concrete strategies to stimulate the child’s intellectual, sensorial, emotional and motor development.

This workshop is open to moms, dads and caretakers with children between 6 months and 3 years of age.

Workshops are offered according to the child’s age, in the following groupings (each child needs to be accompanied by one or both parents or caretaker – there needs to be at least one adult per child).

· 6 to 12 moths

· 13 to 24 months

· + 2 to 3 years

Capacity: minimum 3, maximum 5 children, with their accompanying adult.

Workshop fees: 75,000 colones per child.

1st Workshop:

Monday, July 12th to Friday, July 16th

Daily module from 8:30 am – 10:00 am

Nobody is happy with the closed Monkey Trail - not even the landowners are. During all the past years we kept this beautiful path open for everybody. We also recommended our guests to use the shady and romantic path for bird and monkey watching as well as a walkway to other Restaurants in the northern part of Playa Grande. So, why did we close the trail suddenly? It was not easy to decide. That everybody could walk and ride through our properties was a courtesy to the community. But several weeks, maybe months ago, we got notice that somebody is pushing to make of the private path a public one. In order to avoid that, we took this decision. I repeat: not just because, but rather why we were forced to.

Sins two weeks the beach lots owners close the monkey trail from Playa Grande to Palm Beach with a barbet wire.

This was always a short and dust free way for school kids and workers by bicycle or by walking.

Now the kids and the workers have to use the street where is a lot of dust in the summer and big waterholes in the raining season

Sure the owner can do that with the own lot. They live here and doing business in this country but where is the humanity for this poor people from Costa Rica and Nicaragua? They don’t have a cars with air-condition.

Missing Dog

I've losts a dog as well. I'm taking care of my nieghbors dog, Simone, and he took off on me yesterday and didn't come back last night.

He is a black lab mix, medium size and skinny with white on the belly and chin. He has a brown collar. If you see him can you call the office at 2653-0835 or cell at 8375-6022.

My family and my sister's family yearly travel together with our six teenagers (and one child) to different hot spots during our winter monthsl. We live in Alberta, Canada and even though it is stunningly beautiful and offers us hot, beautiful summers... our wnters are cold!

Four years ago we journeyed to Costa Rica and decided to bypass the "all inclusive" temptation for a chance to taste the "local flavour" of Costa Rica. We searched endlessly on the web looking for the right spot. We needed to have basic,clean shelter on a budget, and a beach with surf. Playa Grande looked like our place! We safely and easily rented casitas for two weeks during Christmas and then moved to a beach front home in Palm Beach Estates for the rest of our holiday

Live was an adventure! We arrived to Costa Rica about 10 pm, but every one was there to meet us at the airport and to bring us to our casitas. Our sufing instructor, Joe popped by to say hello and even gave us food to eat, as it was too late to go shopping and the teens were starving!

We couldn't really appreciate our surroundings yet, as it was so dark. But the next morning we were woken up by the sounds of birds everywhere, and of course the monkeys! What a welcome. Our adventure began!

Never have we been anywhere as wonderful as Playa Grande in Costa Rica. The people, the culture, the things to do.... You'd think it would be difficult to feed six teens, but it was easy! The casitas provided kithchenettes, and since we had rented four casitas, we had four kitchens to cook with!

We also had restaurants within walking distance In Palm Beach and we often found the teens at the local Tico Restaurant/Pub/Store that kept our teen's bellies full for a very reasonable price! And there was the Bula Bula where us mom's often needed one of their giant mudslide cocktails....amazing drink! We ate many meals here, and highly recommend it also. The food was great, the atmosphere wa exciting and relaxed. This was the place we celebrated Christmas Eve, New Years Eve and many other eves!

We once ventured to the large grocery store by Langosta one day and picked up many groceries, but for fresh fruit, vegetables, staples and liquor the local neighbourhood store was the best!

We were all amazed at the reasonable prices charged for tours. And we were very surprised that the tours "always delivered more than we expected", which in Mexico, Cuba and other hot spots the opposite was always true. Costa Rica really did deliver more.

We spent one day zip lining, rafting down class 4 rapids, rapelling down a canyon and climbing back up! What an adventure. I was quite worried about my six old participating, but the Tico's cared for her like one of their own. They never left her side, and made sure she was safe and happy and involved in the activities!. I've never experienced such attention anywhere.

We took the time to register with the Parks for a night tour to see the giant leatherback turtles. We were fortunate that the evening we went there were four turtles that came upon the sandy shores to lay their eggs on the Playa Grande Beach. Watching this was one of the most spiritiual experiences I have ever had. It brought tears to my eyes and made me really appreciate the conservation efforts throughout Costa Rica.

If you are looking for a vacation that offers more than just "all the food you can eat" and lazing around the resort.... come to Playa Grande.

A few years ago we purchased a condo in the Playa Ocotal area... We looked so hard for something in Playa Grande but could find nothing. Our condo will be ready soon, and even though Ocotal is beautiful.... my heart (and my children's) are in Playa Grande. We will be visiting often and will always have an eye out for real estate for sale.
