Baulas Festival - February 28, 2009

All are invited to participate in the 2009 Baulas Festival on February 28th, 2009 at the facilities of the Las Baulas National Park in Playa Grande.  The Baulas Festival promotes the protection, conservation and respect for nature, and marks the official close of the 2008-2009 nesting season.  Festivities begin at 9:00 am.

In an open invitation issued to the public, Biologist Corelle Carmen Gutierrez, Evironmental Education Program Coordinator for the Park, indicates that more than 200 children from 7 local schools are anticipated to attend.  Many activities are intended to educate these children not only of the importance of the turtles to the canton, but also of other ecosystems in this protected marine area.  Activities include folklore, drama, puppets, exhibits, masquerades, dances and more.

Donations to provide food and beverage for the children are gladly accepted.  Please contact Corelle Carmen Gutierrez at 2-653-2233  ext. 108-103 for more information.
